About the Designer
Music has always been a defining force in my life. Something that, even without playing an instrument, has shaped how I think, feel, and create. From collecting vinyl since high school to immersing myself in the sounds and aesthetics of the 1970s and 1980s, my connection to music extends beyond listening to a deep appreciation for its visual culture. Concerts, physical media, and live shows have all influenced my desire to pursue a career in music-focused design, where I can contribute to the way audiences experience and connect with sound through visuals. My interests in merchandise, packaging, poster design, and social media marketing reflect this passion, and have been further developed through hands-on experience working with the Salem-based band Petal Dance.
Collaborating with Petal Dance during my senior year transformed my creative instincts into intentional, strategic design practice. I became increasingly interested in the relationship between music and visual storytelling, how elements like atmosphere, genre, and tone can be translated into cohesive visual identities. Through this work, I explored multiple creative directions for projects such as merchandise design, pushing myself to generate varied concepts before refining a final solution. This process strengthened my ability to think flexibly, embrace experimentation, and incorporate diverse perspectives. By balancing feedback from multiple band members with my own design vision, I learned how to navigate collaboration while maintaining a strong conceptual voice. My willingness to take creative risks, through unconventional typography, layered textures, and surreal imagery, has allowed me to expand both my technical skills and my approach to problem-solving.
In addition to my creative work, my leadership experience within Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Omicron Chapter, has shaped how I collaborate and contribute within team environments. Holding roles such as Sisterhood Chair, VP Harm Reduction, VP Communication, and VP Programming, I developed a leadership style grounded in communication, organization, and empathy. As VP Communication, I managed the chapter’s Instagram presence, creating cohesive and engaging content that strengthened our brand identity and required close collaboration across leadership teams. In my other roles, I facilitated event planning and fostered inclusive spaces, often mediating differing perspectives to ensure thoughtful, collective decision-making. These experiences, along with attending national leadership conferences, have strengthened my ability to lead with intention, adapt to challenges, and support group success.
Together, these experiences define my approach as a designer: one that is deeply inspired by music, grounded in thoughtful visual storytelling, and strengthened by collaboration and leadership. I am driven to create work that not only reflects the identity of artists but also enhances the emotional connection between music and its audience.
